This shows where we walk and meet the ravens
The yellow and pink squiggly lines are two walks we take. The yellow one is the one we usually do. The squigglyness indicates how Madame visits her several important sniffing check-points!
We stop several times to feed the ravens, and you can see where they come from.

If you right-click on the image and open it in a new tab, you can then zoom in to see more details.

Remembrance Day - Thursday, Nov 11th, 2010

It was wild weather this morning - and it is still continuing.

We left much later, about 7.10 a.m., to howling winds and gusting, strong rain. I had planned to have a short walk only - but one raven spotted us and flew to sit on a cherry tree near the path we use to get into the tennis courts. He looked so miserable, and I didn't have the heart to disappoint him!

So we went into the courts to feed the ravens, and for a few brief runs and obedience exercises. Miss Sophie did adequately, but could have done better. At one point she got up from where I'd told her to sit and wait - and rushed one raven, barking at him.
He'd come to the ground to pick up a titbit, and I believe he got it before Miss Sophie interfered. I can't be sure - I had my back half-turned, seeing these ravens are nervous when I look at them directly.

We'd just left the courts when we met Bas and Karen, so we walked back together in the rain and howling storm. Bas and Miss Sophie took no notice of each other, not that bas takes any notice of her - but at least she is now not attacking him on sight, bas being an entire male dog.

Odd to think that on this day a year ago I checked if the ravens would recognise me when I came from a totally different direction, wearing 'normal' as opposed to dog-walking clothes, and being dog-less ... it was such glorious autumn weather then, so unlike today.
And, of course, Madame Dog was still alive ... little did we know what was in store for us ...truly

Hi {Yma} - this is realwest! thank you for mentioning Remembrance Day, or as we in the States call it, "Veterans Day" - though judging by the Right wing blogs or Center-Right Blogs you'd never know it was Veterans Day here. And here's a little acknowledgement of the Day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kX_3y3u5Uo&feature=player_embedded

Thanks for that video link, {rw}!
Can't help crying when i see our veterans.
The big ceremonies will take place on Sunday, Remembrance Sunday - and I so hope the weather will be better for all the veterans' sake who take part up and down the country.

It is still wild weather here, in fact the gales have increased in ferocity, coming straight from the West. Miss Sophie seems a bit scared.

And my broadband connection went haywire yet again. I was very cross with the tech support of the provider!

Thanks again for that song, dear {rw}!
