This shows where we walk and meet the ravens
The yellow and pink squiggly lines are two walks we take. The yellow one is the one we usually do. The squigglyness indicates how Madame visits her several important sniffing check-points!
We stop several times to feed the ravens, and you can see where they come from.

If you right-click on the image and open it in a new tab, you can then zoom in to see more details.

Clear skies overnight meant that the temperature was just above freezing when we left the house shortly after 7 a.m. There was no wind to speak of, but a high, thin fog hid the sun until we were on our way back.

On the way to the tennis courts we'd met Billy and Marianne, whom we hadn't seen for some time. Billy disregarded Miss Sophie, and she disregarded him. But - she did sniff the long stick he'd carried with him. He had dropped it to run after a tennis ball. MissSophie took the end into her mouth
- but just as Marianne and I thought she'd start playing with it, she got up, and peed on it!!
Billy, btw, is the only dog I know who can carry a stick and a tennis ball in his mouth - at the same time ... or two sticks ...or two tennis balls ... depending on what he's picked up on his walk.

The ravens came flying in to sit on the cherry trees next to the footpath, as soon as we had walked past the toddlers' playground. They then flew onto the top of the tennis court fence, waiting for us to go through the gate. Then they came down to the ground, facing us - one to our right, one to our left. Miss Sophie, off the lead, walked past both of them, and they did not budge.

Feeding them their scraps went just as previously described. Today I observed that both of them fly over the fence to the ravens field to hide their scraps. One, coming back, swooped so low over Miss Sophie, it looked as if he was trying to land on her back! She looked a bit upset, but didn't do anything because the raven had meanwhile flown to the top of the fence.

After we'd left the courts we met Bas and Karen - Bas, as usual, not showing the slightest interest in Miss Sophie. Generally the training went well - and today, for the first time, I did not use the 'gentle leader', which helps me to stop her pulling my arms out of their sockets.

The sun came out when we walked back, and the mist started to collect just above the grass in the big field. It looked beautiful.

Hiya, Spenser -

I'm glad you like the new design of the blog!
One thing is certain - with Miss Sophie around there are bound to be adventures ... I wish I knew what she makes of the ravens! It looked very funny when the one swooped down and looked to be aiming toland on her back ...
