This shows where we walk and meet the ravens
The yellow and pink squiggly lines are two walks we take. The yellow one is the one we usually do. The squigglyness indicates how Madame visits her several important sniffing check-points!
We stop several times to feed the ravens, and you can see where they come from.

Sunday 11 April 2010

Sunday, April 11th

Its being Sunday, we left the house at 7 15 a.m. BST ... it was still sunny (not any more, at the time of writing this, alas), but definitely cooler than the days before, with a keen wind picking up from the East.

No raven calls as we entered Llandaff Fields, which again was dog-less at this time of day.

We walked round the long way, and coming to the ravens field I saw that the gate into the bottom enclosure had been left open by the workmen. So I took Miss Sophie into that enclosure, shut the gate as best I could, and let her off the lead.
She had a good run around - no ravens, no dogs, no squirrels to disturb her.
Then we walked on to the fence at the allotments, where I let her off again, this time with the lead trailing. Let me tell you - she can run! Like streaked lightning!!

After she'd let of steam and I got her to come back to me, we went to the ravens' enclosure, the top one.
Still no calls, still no ravens - and then the first of the dogs turned up, so I let the ravens be, and allowed Miss Sophie to socialise and play a bit, on her own, lead trailing.

We walked back, meeting Bart, then other dogs, and in the end went home, not having seen or heard one raven until we came back to the street where our abode is. That was an hour later.

So - will I have to chance getting out late, with workers in the park, and more dogs, or will I have to get out earlier, catching perhaps an early raven?
We'll see what the weather is like tomorrow. If its cold, we'll go out later - if its mild and sunny, we'll go out earlier.

Not very scientific, I know ...

Hi {Yma}- this is realwest - well you left your house kinda late for the Ravens, didn't you? Perhaps they will show up later on - at least I hope so.
And I'm glad to see that Miss Sophie seems to be better able to socialize with other dogs these days -no doubt thanks to your love and affection!

Hi, realwest -

with Miss Sophie it seems like we're taking two small steps forward and one largish one back ...!

I've got to be extremely careful how to train her, tone of voice, praise etc, and right now I am glad to get the professionals' input tonight.

The ravens - I think thanks to the lovely weather over the weekend they have quite a lot to eat, from all the picnics which have been going on all over the parks.

Once the ravens eggs have hatched and the young need feeding, I expect the ravens to be much more keen to get all and any food they can!
