This shows where we walk and meet the ravens
The yellow and pink squiggly lines are two walks we take. The yellow one is the one we usually do. The squigglyness indicates how Madame visits her several important sniffing check-points!
We stop several times to feed the ravens, and you can see where they come from.

Jan 25th

My beloved Madame died this morning, in my arms.

We were at the vet's, and having talked through all the options, I decided that even taking her home again would have been too much of a torment for her.

So I held her tight while the medication went in, she didn't know a thing and was gone even before the syringe was empty.

Loving someone, a person or a pet, also means we must have the fortitude to let them go, for their own sake, no matter how hard it is for us.

I hope to pick up with the ravens in the next couple of days, when I have no more tears to cry.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Dear {Yma} - I was both sad and releived when I read this post of yours today. Sad, obviously for the loss of your dear family member Madame and sad for you too, but relieved that now Madame is pain free, is romping around in heaven with other playful dogs, with as much energy and joy as she had when she was but a pup. But she's looking down at you, too and is sad because you're so sad for her. So grieve as you must, as long as you must, and come back to Town Ravens only when you feel up to it.

{{Yma}} I am so sorry to hear about Madame. I know what it's like to lose a loving companion. On the bright side she's no longer in pain. My thoughts are with you over your loss.

{yma} It is a most difficult thing to let go. Please accept our condolences for your loss of such a dear four-footed friend and companion. A year after having to make that choice ourselves, and knowing it was the right decision, the tears still flow on occasion.

You remain in our thoughts and prayers.

My heart goes out to you {Yma}. Four legged creatures can be as dear to us as our family members.

realwest told us at C2 about your loss. Madame was very special to you. You took the best of care of her and did all you could to give her a warm saft place to live her sweet life. She, no doubt, enjoyed you as much as you did her.

It is painful now, I know. Such a loss is never easy. Always know you have many posters who care for you and support you at this difficult time.

{Yma} I am so sorry for your loss. We have been there before and the only thing that helped me was knowing your friend's suffering is through. Madame is not hurting anymore, although I know you are. I'll keep praying for you.

So sorry for you.
It's a hard decision to make, wanting to be selfish and hold on and letting go when it's best for them.
My thoughts are with you that you will find some comfort.

{Yma} I'm so sorry. The decision to let them go is one of the hardest and most awful decisions to have to make. Please take some heart in knowing you gave her a terrific life. She was loved and she knew it. The memories now are hard, but they will become a comfort. Take care.

My dear, dear friends - thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your lovely words of consolation, for your prayers, and for your kind thoughts.

Like you, I've been here before, when I had to let go of Big Dog.
Knowing that one did the right thing, knowing that one's beloved pet is now safe and without pain helps, but the grief ...
I'll take this grief right into my heart, it is part of life - and it is a small price to pay for all the unconditional love they have given us throughout their lives.

When I can see through my tears, I'll come back to C2 - and I most certainly will not abandon the ravens: they are the perfect reason to go back into the park and face up to life going on.
